Associate or Full Professor/Senior Lecturer in Smart Tourism Management (all genders) Part-time (20 h/w) in Vienna, Austria

Your responsibilities
  • Perform teaching activities at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD/doctorate, and executive education). The teaching load for this position is 2 units/week per semester (1 unit = 45 minutes of teaching), i.e. 4 units/week per year.
  • Contribute to Modul University’s teaching programs in the field of Tourism and Statistics/Data Science.
  • Contribute to the acquisition of external funding, project leadership, and international research collaboration. The successful candidate will be expected to further develop their research agenda in the general area of Tourism and Data Science.
  • Take a role in the university’s self-governance and third mission activities.


Your profile
  • Venia docendi or foreign equivalent or an equivalent subject-relevant academic qualification.
  • Business administration, tourism and hospitality, or related background with a focus on data science and statistics.
  • Evidence of outstanding research ability and potential, through a record of publications in top-tier journals and/or participation in relevant research projects. 
  • Ability to attract external funding to support research programs and to successfully build collaborative research programs with other universities, research institutes and industry.
  • Experience, competence and established commitment to high quality teaching, guidance in scientific work and supervision of PhD students.
  • Ability to teach courses in the fields mentioned above and/or related areas.
  • Experience in successful acquisition, execution, and management of third-party funded research projects.
  • Interpersonal skills including gender and diversity management skills, communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills; proficiency in German language is welcome.

Further information
This is a part‐time, unlimited contract position where applicants are prepared to work up to 20 hours per week (with overtime hours). The initial annual gross salary is EUR 8,000 for an Associate Professor and EUR 10,800 for a Full Professors (plus approx. 30% contribution to the social security and pension fund paid by the employer according to Austrian Law), with additional remuneration for extra teaching or supervision of theses. The position remains open until filled;
